backnetworking and after conference drinking
Old content alert!
Thanks very much for visiting my blog. Always happy to have people read my stuff but just thought I should point out this post is years old. If it's about technical stuff there is a possibility that it is no longer relevant, if it's a bug report/fix I'm hoping that it should now have been fixed.
Of course if this is what you're looking for and it does work then great, just don't say I didn't warn you...
With just about a week to go before the much mentioned d.Construct get under way I want to thank the maker (Glenn Jones) of the d.Construct backnetwork – it really is a thing of beauty. Not only has it allowed for me it see what other people have written about the conference but also allowed me to set up a list of people I know who are attending, get yet another picture and profile of me up on the web and most greatly of all won the argument with work colleagues that microformats are very very cool indeed!
While it has created a great buzz on the build up to the event (I have been rather addicted to see who adds me to their friends lists) but it is looking to produce a similar feel both during and after the event with the promise of live chat (a feature I will have to miss out on due to my pad and papers lack of wifi) and the syndication of conference reviews – I also hope that my network list looks rather healthier after alls said and done too (though I am more than happy that anyone would add me (big thanks to all who have!!)
If you have yet to see this excellent social network and site go check it out at dconstruct06.madgex.com/default.aspx and marvel!
In other d.Construct related business I have seen alot of people asking about a thursday night meet-up. Now unfortunatly I already have another
piss-up arrangement to attend but WILL definetly be around after the conference on Saturday (I have both Friday and Saturday night booked at at the Sea Spray hotel). I don’t really know Brighton at all but I am sure there will be at least a few people there who will and was wondering if we could plan something along the lines of the @media wind-down party – meet up at lunchtime, have some food and then drink until the last one falls?!?!?! If anyone has any ideas or wants to help me get some ideas I would be more than happy! Equally if there is already something planned and I’ve missed it point in the right direction!!!
