what football is all about!

Old content alert!

Thanks very much for visiting my blog. Always happy to have people read my stuff but just thought I should point out this post is years old. If it's about technical stuff there is a possibility that it is no longer relevant, if it's a bug report/fix I'm hoping that it should now have been fixed.

Of course if this is what you're looking for and it does work then great, just don't say I didn't warn you...

Sunday afternoon (ARSENAL v ManU) was all a football match should be; there was passion, commitment and attacking play!! All respect to both Chelsea and Liverpool but they just bore the arse off of me to watch and in my mind that is the reason that regardless of success and wealth this was the clash of the premierships big boys!

I always get a good feeling when I walk into a pub in my arsenal shirt (which this seasons sports Toure #5 on the back) to be met by a friendly hand-shake from a group of guys (unfortunately its ALWAYS guys) who clearly are as into the game as I am and who clearly want a bit of banter – turns the whole anticipation level up a few notches and it always get better when they start including me in their rounds of drinks :> The only thing I must say is that I did feel that there were more manU fans than Arsenal fans – IN A LONDON PUB this truly sucks donkey balls but anyways we won so it makes no matter!

All allegiances were forgotten once the whistle went – I was in the zone and to be honest cacking myself as manU HAVE been looking rather good lately. Thankfully we were better, and to be honest much better – I was worried that for all the chances we made we were again not going to stick one in but thankfully we did and even better super Jens managed to keep us in it with a diving save – not good for my heart that but very exciting none the less. One thing I must grumble about is Gilberto – I love the guy and there were not many better players on the pitch but he is not a penalty taker!!

I’m not sure if I should be worrying about this as we won – but it was again without Henry (we haven’t won this season without him); has he become too big for the club? I don’t know but as we have Sheffield United on Saturday (and I’m going, woohoo) it will be interesting to see how we come out against the team currently bottom of the league.

With all the build up for so called Grand Slam Sunday I was hoping it wasn’t going to be a repeat of the FA Final in Cardiff 2 years ago, which was a bit of a let down for a final match in terms of the quality of play (even though we won). This game was how a football match should be, the passion, excitement, pace and well deserved goal. Very pleased for Adebayor as well – the guy really has some pace and hoping he can create some more goals in the future.

The game was a heart stopper, and I only got to see highlights from MOTD – I think this game has turned our season around and Arsenal can really build on it.

I love Toure too, he was amazing against Sheffield and always runs to the North End before he starts the match. Arsenal also played some beautiful football against Porto on Wednesday night – I think the season is going to be a good one.

    Come on you Gunners :-)
