theCSSdiv and drinks (with added wax)

As we are soon coming into the festive season (and I do mean coming – I refuse to think that Xmas is around the corner until December is upon us and I start getting chocolates every morning in my advent calendar) I have decided that the Xmas cheer can be best displayed via a good old knees up, arranged by myself in a lovely London venue.

In this case I have gone for the rather awesome looking Bavarian Beer House, near Old Street station on the 20th December from around 6pm; all I need say is that there will be beer served by the litre! If this is enough to get you excited and wanting to register then please do, I am using eventWax to provide the registration and up to now am loving how easy it is to arrange events online with it; please register your interest!! It will certainly be a great event Read more

you – please sign; government – please pay attention!

Ian Fenn has now set up a petition on the governments website to make the big-wigs aware of the sorry state of a number of government websites – I have signed up and I think you should too, this is not only about crappy websites but also about public money (around £200000) being wasted and hypocrisy as the government themselves now state that public service websites should meet set accessibility standards – PRACTISE WHAT YOU PREECH GUYS!!!! The 2007 restaurant wish-list

With the brand spanking new TimeOut Eating Guide 2007 in my hands I can finally produce my restaurant wish list for the upcoming year.

I love going out eating, its always good to get out of the house and see new places; equally as I hate washing up its also a good opportunity to miss out on that thankless chore once in a while and treat myself to a night of culinary enjoyment, though I will admit my wallet does sometimes complain (or may that be the drink playing tricks on me again!?!?). My restaurant wish list is gained from flicking through the TimeOut guide, seeing what takes my fancy then picking the best of those out so I can treat myself to one a month for the rest of the year; unfortunately this time around I could only cut it down to 15 so I will have to double up for a couple of months and live like a hermit – that’s all fine in the name of food! Essentially I want to find some of the best places to eat in London and then recommend them to you; I have gone for a selection of over 10 different cuisines so hopefully there is something for everyone.

To get your taste buds going I am publishing my list for next year (though I will be starting this month now – I have no idea of order yet and can be swayed it you want me to check out places before you go there, or indeed fancy going there because you like the idea of it!!) Read more

more video please

I have been getting some nice positive comments from all and sundry about my jungle trek video….We laughed from start to finish, One of the funniest things I have seen in a long time and Its great that I can hear your Somerset accent on youTube for example.

Now while I am still adamant that I do NOT have that much of a Somerset accent I think these comments are valid (I just I would do really) its also coming across that people are not getting to my other (equally good) videos on youTube. Whether this is laziness, a lack of the required signposting or the fact that maybe you people are lying in your praise I do not know; but so as you don’t miss out gaze on in awe at the remaining 11 videos! just shoot me now

Working in a University you do come accross all sorts of people from all different walks of life, background and most importantly to me wed knowledge. This of course is fine, not everyone should be expected to attend conferences, run their onw website outside of work hours and constantly hammer thier liver when meeting up with other web people and drinking meerily for hours upon end. With this in mind I do expect a certain ammount of respect and recognition of my skills when I am called upon to help them.

I have not received this in a recent project and have left the office today in about as angry a mood as I have done for a long long while. Read more
