The Queen of Sheba – eaten and reviewed

As I have been saying for a while now one of the things that I most enjoy about London is how totally cosmopolitan the place is. Growing up in a town that at the time had maybe one Indian restaurant and one pizza place the variety really is something to be proud of. So when I heard about Ethiopian restaurants I really had to go give it a try! Read more

Benares – eaten and reviewed

Once in a while everyone should give himself or herself a little treat. With it being my birthday (20th July for anyone interested for next year) I though the time was right for one of my little treats by heading off to my favourite restaurant, Benares in Berkeley Square.

Since my last visit (same time last year) the restaurant has achieved a Michelin star; I would like to think my review from last year helped it on its way, there is no evidence to prove for or against this argument so I’m going to stick with it. Would gaining this award (the second of head chef Atul Kochhar’s career) have lead to complacency?!?! Read more

The 2007 restaurant wish-list

With the brand spanking new TimeOut Eating Guide 2007 in my hands I can finally produce my restaurant wish list for the upcoming year.

I love going out eating, its always good to get out of the house and see new places; equally as I hate washing up its also a good opportunity to miss out on that thankless chore once in a while and treat myself to a night of culinary enjoyment, though I will admit my wallet does sometimes complain (or may that be the drink playing tricks on me again!?!?). My restaurant wish list is gained from flicking through the TimeOut guide, seeing what takes my fancy then picking the best of those out so I can treat myself to one a month for the rest of the year; unfortunately this time around I could only cut it down to 15 so I will have to double up for a couple of months and live like a hermit – that’s all fine in the name of food! Essentially I want to find some of the best places to eat in London and then recommend them to you; I have gone for a selection of over 10 different cuisines so hopefully there is something for everyone.

To get your taste buds going I am publishing my list for next year (though I will be starting this month now – I have no idea of order yet and can be swayed it you want me to check out places before you go there, or indeed fancy going there because you like the idea of it!!) Read more

d.Construct – the food

As I had the weekend in Brighton I wanted to make the most of it by indulging on yet another of my passions – good food!!! I had heard that Brighton had a number of good places, some had been suggested to me, others just looked nice and others I had seen on TV. I managed to get into one each of these and I am still feeling pretty full from all this – and I don’t think my waist-line is very happy! Read more
